18 February 2024 Queenstown to Mount Cook National Park, South Island NZ

We got on the road early knowing it was a long drive to Mt. Cook. We stopped at Mt. Rosa Winery for a wonderful wine tasting. We walked out with a couple of their Pinot Noirs. Next, we stopped at Mt. Difficulty Winery for another tasting. Then it was on to Mt. Cook. We arrived at the base of Lake Pukaki around 4PM. Just enough time to get some beautiful pictures of the bright blue water of the lake with the snow covered peak of Mt. Cook, the highest point in New Zealand at 12,349 feet. We went to the Visitor Center and explored the exhibits and bought Mt Cook tee shirts before they closed. Then we headed for Glentanner Holiday Park and got set up. We pulled our suit cases out and began packing up. We ate the remainder of the food except for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. We also did a load of laundry. The wind was blowing most of the day and there was a chance of showers during the night.
