8 March 2024 Blue Mountain Tour

Our tour picked us up at our hotel. Once again we were the last to board. The tour operator was AEA Luxury Tours and our driver was Georgio. This was the most comfortable small van yet with enough leg room for David. We drove an hour and a half west to get out of the Sydney suburbs and stopped at the Calmsley Hill animal sanctuary. There we got to pet a Koala! Very scroft! They also had some Kangaroos and Wallaby’s that pretty much stayed away from us. We got to see our first Wombat. It looks like a huge rodent without a tail. We then went to the botanical gardens for a few minutes before having lunch at the Boiler House. Hands down the best tour lunch we have had yet. From there we went to a series of lookouts where we saw the Boars Head rock formation, waterfalls and the famous Three Sisters rock formation. This took us into the Blue Mountains National Park. We stopped in the small town of Leura for a quick walk around the town and shops. Finally, we took a small walk down to a cascading water fall before boarding our bus for the two hour drive back to the city. The Blue Mountains reminded us a lot of the Great Smokey Mountains. We arrived back at the hotel around 6PM. After dropping off our stuff, we decided to just eat close to the hotel.
