Luckily, the gas station got a fuel shipment in overnight and we were able to put enough in the tank (they were limiting how much you could get) to make it easily to Alpine. Whew! David ran into Rick, Paul and Tracy in the gas station café and had a chance to thank them again for their hospitality and pick up some breakfast burritos to fuel our day. The 343 mile drive across West Texas gets pretty boring once we got west of Alpine, but the wind was blowing hard and even pushed our heavy rig around at times. Going through El Paso is always stressful as the traffic is heavy and there are some crazy drivers. We had to slam on the brakes 3 times from people cutting us off with no regard for the size of our rig. We are staying at the Hacienda RV Resort ( $49 per night with GSC). The roads are paved and very wide for big rigs. The sites are very close together but have landscaping and fencing to give you some level of privacy. Our only plans are to try and give our bodies a chance to recover from our fun times in Big Bend!
