The rain tapered off overnight. We woke up to the RV park being very muddy with large pools of water. But in the distance, we could see the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend NP covered in snow with the sun poking out from time to time. We decided to go into the park despite the road to the Basin being closed so we could get some pictures of this unusual weather in the desert. As we climbed in altitude, there was more and more snow that had not yet melted off. Seeing the desert plants and flowers covered in snow was a delight. We got occasional peaks of the mountains through the clouds with snow covering the ground. We got to the road to the Basin and were surprised to find the road open so we drove up into the mountains stopping to take pictures of our favorite mountains in a completely different view. We arrived in the Basin and wandered around taking pictures before going into the store and making some purchases (new BB hat, some more BB wine glasses, etc). The views of the mountains covered in snow were awesome! We reluctantly pulled ourselves away and headed back to the Wanderer. Later that afternoon we met Rick at the Starlite Theater for a wonderful dinner and fantastic views from the front porch.
