Etta woke us up earlier than normal. While David was getting dressed to take her out for a walk, Etta vomited. We chalked that up being anxious to get outside. After her walk, all seemed fine so we fed her breakfast and gave her medicines. A bit while later, she vomited again, and then again. We know something was wrong and did a quick search on Dogs and Corn Cobs. Turns out that corn cobs are very bad for dogs. Between the rough and fibrous texture, they are also very absorbent. They tend to get lodged in the small intestine. So, we found a nearby Veterinarian (Beaver Meadows Vet Services) and rushed Etta there. The vet took her back and did an examine and x-rays. She came out and told us that they could not see anything lodged in the intestine but that her stomach was so full they could not see into it. So, they gave her subcutaneous fluids and some anti-nauseous medicines and sent us home with instructions to bring her back the next morning. During the afternoon she did start to show pieces of corn cob in her excrement.
