This morning we left New York to continue our journey to Maine. We are cutting across multiple mountain ranges as we cross Vermont (State #40) and New Hampshire (State #41). But the climbs were not bad and the temperatures were in the 70s/80s so the truck did not get too hot. US 4 and US 2 were a bit rough, but we soldiered through. Our biggest concern was watching for low overhanging trees. Etta did well and did not seem uncomfortable. We stopped at Quechee State Park for a break and to eat lunch. We drove through the town of Woodstock on US-4. No, we did not see any hippies. We were surprised at how quaint the town itself was. The colonial architecture made you feel like you had step back to the 1700s. We are staying at White Birches Camping Resort ($46.00 per night, no discount). We had to watch the trees as we pulled into our site but once in, it was a comfortable site. Our neighbors were also from Texas and found out they were from the Dallas area when we talked to them later in the evening. Our plan is mostly to relax, but Mount Washington is nearby, the highest mountain on the east coast, so we will try to get to the top, if the weather permits.
