9 November 2019 Stovepipe Well to Acton, CA

We set out as early as we could to take advantage of the cooler morning temperatures. We decided to go through Ridgecrest rather than face the steep road to Lone Pine, the way we had come in. But we had the 14 mile climb over the Panamint Mountains. The climb was 6-8 % glides followed by 10-12 % descents. The Behemoth did great getting us over the mountains, then up the Panamint Valley with a short climb to the altitude of Ridgecrest. The rest of the drive was uneventful. We are staying at the California RV Resort ($45 per night with GSC) in Acton. It’s a short drive to Palmdale. We have friends, Bill and Pam, as well as Scott and Terry, in the area we will visit with Monday and Tuesday.
