26 September 2022 We said good bye to our beloved Etta

Over the weekend, Etta became sicker. She was drinking a lot of water, loosing control of her bladder and panting heavily. Her ability to walk has been going downhill with her muscle loss due to the Cushings disease along with her loss of hair and increased anxiety. It had been a while since we had seen her wag her tail because she was happy. Unfortunately, none of the Banfield pet hospitals were open on the weekend. We tried increasing her insulin to see if we could make her more comfortable and it seemed to. But by Monday morning we knew her blood sugar was out of control again. As we headed to the Banfield, we knew it was probably the end. The vet ran blood tests and confirmed our fears. Her liver enzyme numbers and blood sugar was through the roof and she was showing signs of kidney issues. The vet suggested we could take her to an emergency vet hospital and they would be able to get her stable (for $2k to $3k) but she would eventually get sick again as her insulin resistance builds. We just could not ask her to go through anymore for us. So we had the vet put our beloved Etta to sleep. She is no longer sick or in pain and our lives are forever changed by her love and companionship. God, we miss that bossy dog!

  1. Sorry for your loss. Pets are a joy that we have to bring us all closer together, with each other and natures creatures.
