21 September 2019 Red Bluff to Isleton CA

We slept so hard last night! David repacked the camping gear into the basement and we prepared to head out. We really enjoyed our stay at Durango RV Park. This is how all RV parks should look and be run! The drive down I-5 thorough the California Central Valley was uneventful. The drivers nearer to Sacramento were a bit of a scare as they seemed to not care how big our rig was as they cut us off repeatedly. When we got off CA12 onto Brannan Island road that we got concerned. While researching places to stay close to Napa Valley months ago, we had a hard time finding anyplace that could take us for the 16 days we needed. After a lot of phone calls and research, we finally came across Park Delta Bay RV resort ($49.00 per night). It looked good on the internet and the reviews were ok, but several reviewers warned about the road to the park. And they were right! The road was VERY narrow, especially for our big rig. The road surface could use some work. At the point where the road climbed up onto the dike along the river, we dragged the back end of the Wanderer (which is why there are skid wheels back there). As we continued, the drop off from the road on either side (One side into the river and the other down a steep 30 foot embankment) was very worrisome given how narrow the road was. We eventually came to the entrance to Park Delta Bay RV resort (Which is not where the GPS said it was) and were happy to see the ramp down was long and at a good grade for RVs. That is about all we can say good about this park. It looks like 99% of the residents are long term. Many of the sites are trashed out. Along the back of the property are old wrecked cars, RVs and boats that have not been moved in decades from the look of them. There are only 5 pull through sites for transients like us. Our site is partially shaded and actually level but the trees are blocking the satellite TV. Fortunately the residents seem to be mostly older folks that look safe. In any case, this place is a dump, and we’re stuck here for 16 nights with family coming to visit. Sigh.
