10 June 2019 Taggart Lake

After yesterday’s hike, we decided we needed another hike but we also wanted to see Mormon Row. After reviewing the maps, we decided to hike Taggart Lake after visiting Mormon Row. In the late 1800s, a group of Mormons set up homesteads in Jackson Hole valley. The remains of that colony form the Mormon Row portion of the park. The old buildings, including the most photographed barn in the world, form a dramatic foreground to the Teton Peaks. After Mormon Row, we drove over to the Taggart Lake Trailhead. We planned to do the loop instead of just out and back. It was a fairly crowded trail on the way to Taggart Lake. With Grand Teton Peak in the back ground and Taggart Lake in the foreground, the view was gorgeous. The second half of the loop took us through a beautiful area of forest and meadows. But the only critter we saw was a small brown snake. (4.7 miles, 436 feet elevation gain, 1164 calories)
