26-28 January 2019 It’s Done!

David made a big push to finish waxing the Wanderer since there was a cold front coming in that will take the temperatures down too low for waxing. Saturday he was on the roof getting to areas above the slide outs he cannot reach on the ladder. He has also been treating the upper seals on the slide outs to protect them from elements. He noticed that the air conditioning covers had scratches in them from low hanging branches we apparently hit. After kneeling on the top of the slide outs, they shifted slightly and we had to pull them in slightly then run them out to reseat them. Unfortunately we forgot one of the windows on the end of the dining slide out was open so in the process of pulling it in, we bent the window slightly. Not enough to require an immediate fix, but something we will need to address at some point. What can you say, stupid stuff happens! Sunday David polished out the marks on the paint from some branches that had rubbed up against dining slide out before being able to wax it. Monday he wrapped it up by polishing out more branch marks around the garage door and waxing the rear cap and the area around the garage door. With that, after a month, it was finally waxed from end to end! Many folks stopped by as David was working over the last month to chat about our New Horizon and many invited him to wax their rigs as well. An invitation he politely declined time and time again. We also have gotten many complements about how beautiful our Wanderer is!

We have been looking at the other RVs over the last several months and seeing the awnings over the slide outs on their fifth wheels and class a motor homes. Currently, David has to climb up on the roof and sweep (or wipe off the water) and sweep off the roofs of the slide out since any debris on the slide out roofs will damage the seals. So we contacted New Horizon, the manufacture of our fiver, and have reached an agreed price for parts and install of awnings over the slide outs. We also decided to add another shade awning on the dining room slide out. They will also be doing some warrantee work on the Anderson Valve we (and others) have been having problems with and we will have then check out the window. We set a date for when we will pull into the plant in Junction City Kansas. So that, combined with some meetings David has to support in Albuquerque in early April have set our schedule for the next several months. So after reviewing the map we have started planning out our travel. We want to hit Kerrville in the heart of Texas Hill Country, Del Rio Tx down on the boarder, Big Bend for several weeks, Carlsbad Caverns NP/Guadeloupe Mountains NP, and Las Cruces New Mexico! David already informed his customers that he will not be able to travel for work through at least early April since we will be four or more hours away, one way, from a commercial airport for the month of March. So we have started making reservations at RV parks in those areas. We will pull out of Spring on the Feb 18^thand finally be back on the road. We are so looking forward to it!
